The situation starts to improve in China after the lack of containers, the concern is now Northern Europe. According to experts, it is possible to notice the growing competition for space and equipment in the ports of Hamburg, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven. The authorities of the port of Hamburg vetoed the delivery of containers more than 72 hours before the ship's arrival. In this way, cargoes are being redirected to terminals close to the port before delivery in order to meet deadlines. The reasons for the lack of equipment are the reheating of economies in Europe and the redirection of containers to services in Asia. Some companies have already suspended the acceptance of new bookings for March. HPL, CMA and Maersk are still offering departures in March, but with a reduction in free time. In addition to the reduction in free time, another worrying point is the rise in prices. Agents warn that although the shipowners are offering rates valid until 03/31, there is no price guarantee, all of them are subject to GRI adjustment and the possibility of readjustment by the shipowners is great. The forecast is that for Brazil at least one readjustment of EUR 150 to 300/teu will be applied. Bookings already carried out are also suffering from delays and cancellation, so it is very important to constantly monitor shipments from this origin. Did you like the tips and want to know more?
